Pantomime cast shows their support for the new Everyman Education Centre at Grove Street

Gloucestershire’s leading entertainment and cultural venue, The Everyman Theatre, has announced that this year’s Christmas pantomime production of Robin Hood and His Merry Men will be backing the £1 Million Grove Street Appeal, in aid of Cheltenham’s new community arts centre.

Earlier this week, everybody’s favourite clown, Tweedy, was joined by Nursie (Kevin Brewis) and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Lizzie Bea) to pledge their help in aid of the initiative. The stars of the much-anticipated annual show came together during final rehearsals to support the Grove Street Appeal, the Everyman Theatre’s fundraising campaign to support the transformation of a former community building. Once complete in Spring 2026,  it will be a fully accessible hub for community arts activities, with multi-use workshop spaces, welcoming reception with enhanced energy efficiency and improvements to the outside.

The Everyman Theatre Education Centre at Grove Street will offer a vibrant and engaging programme for the whole community, where they can experience and enjoy everything from performing arts groups and choirs to dancing and creative family clubs. The aim of the education centre is to support people of all ages from across Cheltenham and beyond to get creative, with a particular focus on engaging less advantaged children, young people and adults.

Jessica Price, Head of Education & Community, commented,Our annual pantomime has a rich history of spreading joy, not just through brilliant performances but also by raising funds for countywide community initiatives and this year all of the performances of Robin Hood and His Merry Men will contribute towards our new initiative to re-energise the former Community Resource Centre in Grove Street. This will allow our education and community work to extend further and help us to deliver inspiring, innovative and engaging creative projects for all, from the new building in the West End of Cheltenham. We’re so excited to do more of the work we love and reach new communities, once the building works at the centre are completed next Spring!”
