Gloucestershire’s most-loved Christmas tradition has officially begun with Robin Hood and His Merry Men now playing until Sunday 11th January 2026

The festive season launched in spectacular style at the Everyman Theatre on Friday 28th November, as Robin Hood and His Merry Men opened to huge applause and a buzzing Cheltenham audience.
This year’s show bursts with the unmistakable Everyman pantomime magic including Tweedy’s trademark mischief, dazzling costumes, spectacular sets, laugh-out-loud skits and show-stopping musical numbers that had audiences cheering from start to finish.
Leading the cast is Gloucestershire’s favourite clown, Tweedy, who returns for his 14th Everyman pantomime as the hilarious Friar Tweedy Tuck.
This production marks the Everyman’s first-ever take on the story of Robin Hood. In a uniquely local twist, Friar Tweedy Tuck invites Robin Hood and his band of outlaws to the Cotswolds to defeat the villainous Sheriff of Gloucestershire in a show packed with Cheltenham in-jokes and references including Cavendish House and The Ivy.
Tweedy is joined by audience favourites Kevin Brewis as Dame Nursie and Kane Verrall as Will Scarlett, alongside West End star Lizzie Bea as The Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Dan Wilshire as Robin Hood, and Jewelle Hutchinson as Maid Marian. They are supported by a talented 6-person West End-quality ensemble, and a brilliant creative team.
This year’s production reunites the Everyman’s acclaimed pantomime creative, including writer-director duo Sam Holmes and Nick Winston, set designer Andrew Exeter, sound designer Ben Harrison, and the newly appointed costume designer Stewart J. Charlesworth.
Last year’s pantomime, Aladdin, welcomed over 45,000 audience members, and with demand already high, the 2025/26 pantomime is set to be another hugely popular year.
Mark Goucher, CEO of the Everyman Theatre said,
“We are very excited to bring Robin Hood to Cheltenham for the very first time. The atmosphere on our opening night was electric, and the cast delivered an exceptional performance after weeks of rehearsal. We can’t wait for audiences across Gloucestershire join us over the next six weeks.”
A portion of proceeds from this year’s pantomime will directly support the Everyman’s major new community project, the Everyman Education Centre at Grove Street, which will be a dedicated new hub for creativity, wellbeing, and community engagement in Cheltenham. By booking tickets, audiences are helping to transform access to the arts across Gloucestershire.
Tickets for Robin Hood and His Merry Men are still available, but weekends and Christmas holiday performances are selling fast. Families are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred dates.
Don’t miss Gloucestershire’s biggest and best Christmas tradition.
