Aladdin wows audiences at Everyman Theatre and raises over £19,000 for Cheltenham Open Door

The curtain has closed on this year’s Everyman Theatre pantomime, Aladdin, following hugely successful run that has been enjoyed by audiences of all ages. From side-splitting skits from Tweedy the Clown to gravity-defying stunts and show-stopping musical numbers, Aladdin entertained over 45,000 people as they experienced a magic carpet ride like no other over the festive season.

Mark Goucher, CEO The Everyman Theatre and Jane Sharp, Chair of Cheltenham Open Door.

Now, the Everyman Theatre is proud to announce that thanks to the incredible generosity of pantomime audiences, an incredible £19,148.37 has been raised for Cheltenham Open Door, who was last year announced as the theatre’s 2024 pantomime charity.

Cheltenham Open Door provides essential services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the local community, offering hospitality, warmth, food, and a safe space for those who need it. The pantomime donation will help them to continue their invaluable work into 2025.

Jane Sharp, Chair of Cheltenham Open Door said, We were thrilled to be chosen as The Everyman’s Christmas charity partner for 2024 and are enormously grateful for the funds raised by Aladdin audiences. Cheltenham Open Door is a small charity with a big heart, providing a warm, safe space and essential support for vulnerable individuals. The generosity of The Everyman and its audiences will help us continue this vital work. It has been heartening to see such genuine care and concern for others in the community.”

Mark Goucher, Chief Executive of the Everyman Theatre, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who came to see Aladdin this year, and to those who generously donated to Cheltenham Open Door. Pantomime is the busiest season for our theatre, and to see the joy and excitement in our auditorium every night over the run has been amazing. We’re really thrilled that our pantomime could also make a real difference to such a deserving local cause, in raising over £19,000 for Cheltenham Open Door.”

Charity funds were raised from a mix of ticket sales, along with bucket collections at the end of performances, rallied by theatre staff and members of the pantomime cast.

The excitement doesn’t end there. The Everyman Theatre is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for next year’s pantomime, running from Friday 28th November 2025 to Sunday 11th January 2026. While the title remains under wraps for now, audiences can expect another extraordinary festive extravaganza packed with laughter, tricks, music, and plenty of surprises.
