Everybody’s favourite clown Tweedy, swooped into Stroud earlier this week, to meet with the Everyman Theatre’s 2023 pantomime charity partners. Launching in November, the brand-new festive show will see Tweedy taking on his most challenging role ever…playing Mother Goose and tackling his most daring pantomime stunt yet – performing as a DAME. His egg-centric charm is sure to goose the audience into fits of laughter.
This year’s chosen charitable partners are both causes that are close to Tweedy’s heart. The Everyman Theatre have announced that Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester and Allsorts in the centre of Stroud, for whom Tweedy is charity patron and ambassador respectively, will be this year’s recipients of the charitable donations. Both organisations are dedicated to providing everyday fun activities and support to young children and their families who are experiencing challenging circumstances or require additional support. Many are of course huge fans of Tweedy’s pantomime antics.
“Learning that Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester has been chosen as one of the honoured charities by The Everyman Theatre fills me with immense joy and pride.“
Says Ri Ferrier, Director of Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester.
“With The Everyman Theatre’s support, we are set to make an even greater impact on the lives of vulnerable families, strengthening our local community.“
“The fact that our esteemed patron, Tweedy, will be starring in the upcoming panto ‘Mother Goose’ adds an extra layer of excitement to this collaboration. Tweedy’s dedication to our cause is truly heartwarming and having him on stage in support of Home-Start Stroud and Gloucester is a wonderful opportunity that we are extremely grateful for.”
The panto will also see the return of dynamic creative partnership, Sam Holmes and Nick Winston. The duo have written and directed the annual Everyman pantomime since 2019’s Cinderella, injecting their signature energy and humour that keep audiences returning to the theatre each Christmas.
There are plenty of opportunities to see Mother Goose at the Everyman Theatre throughout the festive season, with 54 shows to choose from between Friday 24th November and Sunday 7th January, including audio-described and relaxed performances. Peak performances are selling fast, however there are great family rates still available on selected off-peak performances.
So, fluff up your feathers and get ready to see Tweedy and friends for an all-singing, all-dancing, traditional family treat at The Everyman Theatre. Tickets are available now, from just £10pp and are expected to get snapped up quicker than you can say ‘golden egg!’
