For one night only, the multi award-winning burger brand The Beefy Boys, brought Vegas to Exeter for the official opening of their latest UK restaurant, with a VIP launch party.
The 250 invited guests were given a spectacular welcome at The Guildhall Shopping Centre, greeted by a live fire performance and Vegas showgirls towering on stilts.
The evening brought everyone together to celebrate the highly anticipated arrival of The Beefy Boys in Exeter, as the team officially opened the doors to its seventh UK restaurant on Queen Street.
The opening follows months of anticipation and a successful soft launch period. Local press, content creators, friends, family and members of the Exeter hospitality community, along with Exeter Chiefs and Exeter Football Club players, were invited to be the first to experience the new two-storey restaurant which features alfresco dining spaces, and combines neo-classical architecture with The Beefy Boy’s trademark playful style, complete with colourful graphics and cheeky neon signs.
Guests enjoyed a feast of The Beefy Boys’ signature American-style dirty burgers, Beefy-style canapes, cocktails and shakes, with some of the guests gets getting involved with milkshake making and ‘Patty Smashing Burger Masterclasses’, alongside two of the Directors Dan Mayo-Evans and Anthony Murphy.
Some of the popular dishes served up included the National Burger Awards-winning Oklahoma onion boy cali style burger, the dirty boy, a variety of chicken tenders, and their more-ish mac ‘n cheese balls. Drinks partners and craft brewers Powderkeg along with non-alcoholic aperitif specialists Drinks Kitchen, were also hand to offer samples to guests.
Adding to the party atmosphere, DJ Cheeba was on the decks to soundtrack the evening, before The Beefy Boys took to the microphone to share their remarkable story, with what began as four childhood friends cooking burgers together in their back garden in Hereford, eventually growing into one of the UK’s most celebrated burger brands. Exeter marks The Beefy Boys’ seventh restaurant and their most southerly venture to date. Since competing at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas in 2014, the quartet have gone on to open restaurants in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford and Nottingham, as well as becoming Sunday Times bestselling authors along the way.
Speaking about the official opening, co-founder Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy said, “Opening in Exeter has been something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and seeing so many people come out to celebrate with us was incredible. The new restaurant has created almost 50 new local jobs and the team in Exeter are absolutely amazing. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from other local businesses across the city.”
The Beefy Boys first launched in 2011 and have since built a devoted following thanks to their award-winning burgers and barbecue-inspired menu. Their achievements include success at the World Food Championships, multiple National Burger Awards and two cookbooks, including their latest release, The Beefy Boys’ Great British BBQ.
